How I Became a Reader Before I Became a Writer

Hi there,

Before I ever thought about writing stories, I was a reader. A devoted one.

In my early adult years, I stumbled into the world of Xena fanfiction, and something quietly changed for me. It wasn’t just about the show. It was about discovering stories where women were powerful, complicated, brave, soft, furious, devoted—and sometimes, wonderfully, in love with each other.

From there, I wandered into other fandoms, other genres, other worlds. Romance. Angst. Hurt/comfort. Slow burn. Found family. Dark corners and gentle endings. And somewhere along the way, I realized something about myself:

I don’t really choose stories by genre.

I choose them by feeling.

If a story has a strong female lead, emotional depth, and a reason to keep turning the page, I’m in. If love appears along the way, that just feels like a deserved gift.

That’s why this space holds many kinds of stories. Not because I can’t choose—but because I read the same way. Curiously. Widely. With my whole heart.

If you feel like reading something today, there’s a story waiting here:
